Wabi Sabi CSA
We are working hard and planning for the summer. Our poor website is unfinished getting neglected (when we have time we play with it). We need your help. If you notice a typo, misspelling (I’m good for that), something that doesn’t make sense or something you just want us to add to; please, give me a call, text or email.
We are Jassen and Katherine. We have two sons and a daughter, two dogs, flock of birds, school of fish, and an occasional cat. We care for the earth and family. We do our best buy produce and meat that is organic, natural and sustainable but sometime this is cost inhibitive at a supermarket. We began to grow our own. It is wonderful feeling to care for the earth and having it give so much healthy food for our family.
In 2010 we were blessed enough to rent an acreage from Dickman Farm, Allison, Iowa. We began growing vegtable plants for sale. Our plants are grown naturally without chemicals. We practice companion gardening. In the fall of 2011 we started raising chickens. We have both broilers (we lovingly call them fat babies) and hens (our ladies) for eggs. We also raise Narragenett and Bourbon Red turkeys both beautiful and tasty heritage breeds. We have our birds processed at State Licensed Martzahn’s Farm in Greene, Iowa.
Our first year as a CSA and at farmers market was so successful we plan to expand. We learned much and met many new friends. We are still both WIC and Senior Certified. CSA members are can pick up at the farmers markets or here at the farm. We still have favorites; fresh vegetables, eggs, bread, natural dog treats, soap, cut flowers, house plants, crafts and more. We have a frequent buyer club (bread, eggs, and broilers) for those who may not want to commit to a CSA.
